I figure to contribute to the cause with my shitty work and second attempt for a stamp. Art is not for Art's sake you see, just spreading the message:

So what, as long as they're good actors, right? Best actor for the part and all that.

"Acting ability aside, no it is NOT RIGHT. The Avatar animated series is mired with and 100% composed of Asian influences. The world, the cultures, the people, the costumes, the script, the belief systems, the references, the mythology - everything is Asian-or-Inuit based. This is a fact ([link]), not fandom's wishful thinking. A FACT. Casting all-white actors to play roles that should go to fully capable Asian/PoC actors is insulting and discriminatory.

As for acting ability: I refuse - refuse - to believe that there are ZERO Asian and/or PoC and/or mixed-race actors to play these parts. It's a pathetic idea that only white kids were capable of acting and looking like all four main roles.

Finally - since when has Hollywood been concerned about Oscar-worthy performances from child actors in action/fantasy movies? The main Harry Potter kids definitely looked like the characters - but could they act? Not really. When did we collectively become so particular for superb child acting? Answer: Lame reason to defend whitewashing."

did you consider all the other child actors who didn't get the part that are white? did you consider that maybe the children that did get the part were actually the best? or did you think that everybody that auditioned was Asian (or whatever) except the ones that were chosen?

Its a non-issue, I find it amusing, bordering silly red herring, that you raise this.

The number of Caucasians who auditioned has no bearing to the FACT that Caucasians are chosen FOR THE LEAD ROLES just because of the simple fact they are Caucasians. Please, don't go around in circles and make this conversation bearable for the both of us. :)

You see the original casting call which states they are looking for "CAUCASIANS and other ethnicity". You really don't need a degree in hermeneutics to see their preference.

How the heck can you quantify skill? Awards? Ooooh, we have Patel, but wait he is second to the list to Mccartney. Oscar comes SECOND to a Children Choice awardee on some category? Wow, nice "standard".

So even what we know actually disproves your logic. C'mon, do you really buy that they are the best. Acting is a skill learned. And c'mon do you really believe Caucasians can act better than Asians as to merit ALL good guy roles? Racist.

Now to answer my question on what is a racist, it is NOT inequality or noticing differences.

Racism is not SOLELY a discrimination of color or ethnicity. RACISM is the UNFAIR treatment of a group of people in a favorable position on another group of people with the INTENTION, IMPLICIT and EXPLICIT, to MAINTAIN the STATUS QUO.

With this definition in mind, may I ask you, are you a racist?
